Projects in Hand:

            Different projects had been assigned to me from time to time in addition to my routine works which are as follows:

i)                   Effect of leeching in different diseases: The study was started way back in 1995 at RRIUM, Srinagar . In this direction the study of the leeching in Frostbite was evaluated and the data published in the Council Journal. Evaluation of effect of leeching in Essential Hypertension was also evaluated and the data compilation is under process. Presently we are evaluating the effect of leeching in Osteoarthritis, Varicose veins, Hyperlipidemia, Hyperurecemai, and the study is going on.

ii)                Development of new formulation: A study was conducted in RRIUM, Srinagar under the intimation to Headquarters to formulate a compound which can enhance the efficacy of UNIM-301 therapy and the data in this regard stands submitted to the Council Headquarters.

iii)              Dietotherapy in Arthritis: In this direction a proposal was submitted to the Council and was subsequently sanctioned. The data thus compiled has been submitted to council and a paper in this regard has been published in international journal.

Guidance provided

·        Provided guidance (as co-guide) to one PhD scholar from University of Kashmir working on Role of Drug and Diet in Arthritis from Dept. of Clinical Biochemistry.

·        Provided guidance to JRF (U) on different topics regarding arthritis, regimental therapies and research methodology

·        Participated in collaborative programme with Centre for Adult Continuing and Extension Education, University of Kashmir in their programme on Entrepreneurship Development for Unani Doctors which was conducted in RRIUM, Srinagar complex and I was assigned the job of course coordinator.

Salient features of the work done in different fields

·        I was responsible for starting the research on regimental therapy (Leeching) in different diseases in the Institute

·        I was responsible for starting the intramural research in the Institute viz the effect of leeching in Frostbite

·        The effect of leeching in Osteoarthritis is going on in the Institute started by me

·        I had formulated a compound Unani drug to enhance the efficacy of UNIM-301 therapy for Rheumatoid Arthritis in the Institute and the same drug after approval from the SAC was incorporated in the form of UNIM-314

·        I had started the dieto-therapy in Arthritis after the proposal was duly approved by the Council.
