Current position:
Specialist in vascular surgery and endovascular intervention department in National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology (NIDE) - Cairo, Egypt. Started January 2010.
Experience:
Clinical:
As a vascular surgery specialist, I was responsible for supervising of admitting, clerking and discharging patients and for ensuring their case notes and discharge letters are completed.
I look after inpatients including daily ward round, preoperative preparation, and post operative care.
I am also responsible for assessment and management of acute vascular admission.
Outpatient:
I also assist in the Consultant's out-patient vascular surgery clinic. I usually organize and carry out-patient procedures run by the firm like sclerotherapy and lymphoedema compression program.
Operative:
As a SHO, I have very good opportunity to perform major surgical procedures in wide range of specialties as arterial, vascular access as well as varicose veins.
Arterial:
Femoral and brachial embolectomies, fem-pop bypass graft, and arterial injury repair in upper and lower limbs.
Vascular access:
Radio-cephalic and brachio-cephalic AVF, brachio-basilic transposition, AV loop with dealing with all complications like AV aneurysm, ruptured fistulae, and venous hypertension.
Varicose Veins:
Stripping of 1ry V.V of long saphenous and short saphenous veins , venous Injection and Foam Sclerotherapy and few cases of Radiofrequency and Laser ablation of V.V .
Endovascular intervention:
As a SHO, I have very good opportunity to assist in majority of endovascular intervention procedures in wide range of peripheral arteries and veins including:
Diagnostic Angiography (Full performance).
Balloon dilatation , primary Stenting and Subintimal angioplasty of different peripheral arteries including Carotid , Subclavian , Iliac , Superficial femoral , Popliteal and Tibial arteries (First Assistant).
Venous endovascular intervention in the form of IVC filters insertion and management of venous hypertension of AVF (First Assistant).
Career Intention:
For the past 4 years. I have been working as a SHO in the field of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Intervention. I wish to increase my proficiency and knowledge in this area. I have a special interest in research work which will increase my capability as a vascular surgeon. After gaining a competent skill in elective and emergency vascular procedures, with acquiring the latest knowledge and a good standard of patient care, I wish to return to Cairo and settle down with confidence in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Intervention.
