• I used to Review all newly admitted patients with internal medicine  & gastro-intestinal & liver disease problems  for Planning of Investigations &Management
• I have taught & still teaching young doctors the minor surgical bed side procedure eg Percutaneous liver biopsy, blind or ulra sound guided..etc.. and always supervise them afterwards.

• I see new  &follow up patients with different Gastroenterology & Liver disease including Hepatitis & liver transplant patient, IBD…..
• I was a member of the DOHMS panel for assessment and licensing for   doctors planning to work in Dubai as General Practitioner or Specialist.

GASTROENTEROLOGY EXPERIENCE:

• I’m dealing with all kinds of digestive disease problems, inpatients and outpatients with special interest in liver disease patients of different aetiology and at many occasions assessing patients for liver transplantation and follow them afterwards.

• I started my training in Gastroenterology in July 1983 with hand – on training for diagnostic & therapeutic Endoscopy for almost 2 years .Then I used to have my own unsupervised sessions as follows:
• The procedures privilege, which I have good experience, are as follows:

• Insertion Sengstaken-Blackmore tube

• Diagnostic & Therapeutic Upper & lower GI Endoscopy, Biopsy, Snare Polypectomy, Foreign body removal. Stopping Variceal & Duodenal Ulcer Bleeding, Achalasia Dilatation….

• Blind percutaneous needle liver biopsy

• During Gastroenterology on Call, I deal with any emergency for upper and lower endoscopy.
• I have performed >18,000 upper & > 12,000 lower GI diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopies during my work at RASHID HOSPITAL.

TEACHING DUTIES:

• I have been involved in clinical teaching of Dubai Medical College for Girls One day as Clinical Tutor for 5-6 undergraduate students for bedside history taking and examination of patients.

• Participated in CME courses
• Lecturing and case presentations in many postgraduate courses.
• Emirates Society of Gastroenterology: (ESG)
• I was elected as President of the Society for a period of 2 years starting April 2007 To Jan.2009
• During the previous 2 years, I was the General Secretary of ESG organizing monthly meeting & inviting International speakers in Gastroenterology.
• I was responsible of the Monthly CME Meeting & organizing training programs for young gastroenterologists
• Also inviting international speakers to deliver lectures in recent advances in Gastrointestinal & Hepatology disorder.
