Dr. Sharif
Dr. Khaled Sharif is an
internationally renowned eye surgeon who is the founder and medical
director of the Sharif Eye Centers
Medical Group Inc.; a professional corporation dedicated to
providing world-class laser vision correction procedures as well as
comprehensive multi-subspecialty eye care in various cities in the
Middle East.
He completed
his residency and fellowship training in Great Britain where he
worked as an eye surgeon for ten years. He was the first eye surgeon
to perform LASIK procedures in Jordan more than 15 years ago. He was
also the pioneer in introducing Implantable contact lens surgery as
well as laser cataract surgery and lately the first IntraLASIK
procedures in Jordan.
He published a
prize winning textbook on corneal diseases in Great Britain in 1992,
as well as over one hundred papers and presentations in European and
American medical journals.

In 1989,
Dr. Sharif received a fellowship
degree from the Royal college of Surgeons in Glasgow, UK
specializing in eye surgery. Furthermore, in 1990, he received a
fellowship degree from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in
London.
In 1991, he
moved to Amman, Jordan where he was appointed Assoc. Professor of
Ophthalmology at Jordan University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine,
Director of Ophthalmology at the Residency Training Program, as well
as, being the first surgeon to establish specialized clinics for
“Corneal Surgery" at Jordan University Hospital.
Dr. Sharif has published many articles
on the “Diagnosis and Management of Eye Diseases”; including a
textbook on “Corneal Diseases” which was nominated as the best
medical book in Great Britain by the Society of British Authors in
1991.
Dr. Sharif has been invited by many
countries in the Middle East to give training courses on Eye Laser
Surgery (PRK, LASIK, & IntraLASIK) to local optometrists and medical
doctors. In 1996, he was invited as a visiting professor to speak
and lecture on this same subject at the New York Eye and Ear
Infirmary .

Dr. Khaled Sharif Biography
Consultant ophthalmologist and corneal surgery specialist. Director of cornea and
refractive surgery services, I. H. Hospital, Amman, Jordan.
He specialized in eye surgery in Britain where he obtained the degree fellowship of the
Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1988 and then the
fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of London in 1990.
He started practicing ophthalmology in Amman in 1991 where he was appointed as Ass.
Professor of ophthalmology at the faculty of Medicine, Jordan University.
He was the first surgeon to establish specialized clinics in corneal surgery at Jordan
University Hospital, where he also served as the director of the residency-training
program in ophthalmology.
He was the first eye doctor to introduce corneal laser surgery to Jordan in 1993 and since
then he has performed countless numbers of procedures (PRK, LASIK)
for myopia and astigmatism.
He has published many papers on the diagnosis and management of eye diseases in addition
to a text book on corneal diseases that was nominated
for the best medical book published in Britain in 1991.
He has been invited by many countries in the Middle East to give training courses for the
local doctors on eye laser surgery (PRK & LASIK).
He also gave lectures on this subject at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he was
invited as a visiting professor in 1996.
