INVOLVEMENT IN CLINICAL RESEARCH
ACTIVITIES
During the period of being appointed as a Resident of OB & GYN till
now, I have been actively involved in designing, implementing and
managing clinical research projects as follows:
During the period between Dec.1988 till Dec. 1991 (resident post) I
conducted my MSc Thesis which was titled” STUDY OF THE CHANGES IN
SERUM LIPIDS AFTER ORAL OR VAGINAL USE OF COMBINED CONTRACEPTIVE
PILLS”
In May 1992 I was elected to represent my Department at the workshop
titled “ Writing of biomedical research proposals “ held by the
National Population Council (NPC) (May 9-14 1992). By the end of
this workshop all the participants presented preliminary research
proposals and I had the honor that my proposal was the only one,
which was accepted to be funded by USAID through the technical
assistance of RMU/NPC. The title of the research was “ The use of
low dose combined pills in women with past history of viral
hepatitis “ I was responsible for the implementation and
management of the project under supervision of Prof. S.M. Kafafi,
the principal investigator. The results of the project were
published in POPULATON STUDIES vol. 15 No. 80 Oct.- Dec. 1993 5-25.
In June 1993, I represented my Department at the workshop held by The
Egyptian Fertility Care Society (EFCS) titled “ An Epidemiological
Approach to Reproductive Health “ conducted at the

and Research in Family Planning,

June 5-10, 1993
). By the end of this workshop, participant became ready to
implement the multicenteric project titled “ Prevalence of anemia
among Egyptian women in the child bearing age and the effect of one
year of use of the CU-T 380 A IUD
on Hemoglobin and serum Ferritin levels” which was funded by the
(WHO/HRP) through the EFCS and was conducted at 7 University
Hospitals and I was one of the implementing and managing team at El-Minia
University Hospital. This study was presented at the joint annual
meeting of the Egyptian Society of OB & GYN and EFCS June 1995,

In April 1995, I was one of the Trainers for the workshop conducted at the
Institute
of
Training
and Research in Family Planning,
Alexandria
,
EGYPT
(April 8-13 1995) in cooperation with RMU/NPC. The aim of the
workshop was to train the participants regarding writing,
implementing and managing research projects in Family Planning.
In 1998, I participated in the implementation and management of the
research project concerned with the improvement of the services
presented to post abortive patients conducted at
EL-Minia
University
Hospital
in cooperation with EFCS.
Since 1995 – till now I supervise MSc and MD candidates in conducting
their Theses.
In November 2005, I participated in the “ Peer Reviewer
Workshop” Conducted my the “ National Quality Assurance and
Accreditation Project ‘ 15 – 16 November 2005.
