·
It
is an excellent opportunity of being an active member of
teaching surgery for medical students at their final years and
for the surgical residents.
·
I
was appointed as member of the examination committee for the
medical school and for surgical residents for two years, and a
coordinator for the final year medical school at their surgical
rotations.
·
I
was also chosen last year as member of the high committee for
the medical conference by the university.
·
I
participate in the teaching activities of the surgical
department, with seminars and lectures in cardiothoracic
surgery, clinical rounds for 4th and 6th
year medical students, and supervised surgical residents in some
lectures also.
·
I
was chosen as invited examiner in surgery by
Jordan
University
Medical
School
for the years 2005 and 2006.
Clinical
Experience
at
the Islamic Hospital:
·
During
my training in general surgery, I was exposed to wide variety of
general surgery and other specialities of surgery.
General
Surgery (30 months).
Cardiothoracic
Surgery (6 months).
Neurosurgery
(2 months).
Orthopedic
Surgery (6 months).
Pediatric
Surgery (2 months).
Urologic
Surgery (2 months).
·
The
Islamic Hospital is a large general
charity
Hospital
of 360 beds at the time of my residency, now expanded to 550
beds. And recognised for specialty training in General surgery,
General Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetric / Gynecology, and Anesthesia.
Clinical
Experience
at
Jordan
Hospital
and Medical Centre:
·
This
is a general private hospital of 200 beds. During my Senior
Surgical post, I was appointed as Head of Emergency Unit for the
first 10 months.
·
In
addition I worked as assistant in General Surgery and Cardiac
Surgery for the whole period of 14 months.
Clinical
Experience
at
Albashir
Referral
Hospital
, and the affiliated
Maan
Hospital
:
·
Albashir
Hospital
is the referral teaching hospital of Ministry of Health of
Jordan
with total capacity of 1000 beds. I was appointed as Specialist
in General Surgery for 18 months. During that period of time I
have done a lot of almost all varieties of general surgery
minors and majors.
·
Then
I was appointed at affiliated
Maan
Hospital
at north of
Jordan
as consultant in general surgery for 13 months in which I was
exposed to wide varieties of trauma and elective surgery.
·
During
this time I have done my FRCS in General Surgery, which is a
prerequisite to join Jordan University of Science and Technology
for sponsoring me to train in cardiac surgery.
·
My
experience in general surgery was of grate asset to my later
training in cardiac surgery local and abroad.
Clinical
Experience
at
Cardiac Surgery Training Program, Queen Alia Heart Institute:
·
Queen
Alia Heart Institute is the first training centre in cardiac
surgery and cardiology in
Jordan
. The centre is well known, at which around 2000 cardiac surgery
cases are performed yearly.
·
Around
55% of the cases are coronary bypass grafting, 30% simple and
complex congenital cases, and remaining 15% of valvular surgery.
·
During
the three years of my training, I was fully trained and
performed many cases of coronary bypass grafting, valve
replacement, and some congenital cases.
·
By
April 2003, I was eligible to set for
Jordan
board in cardiac surgery, and I have got certificate of
completion of training from the Royal medical services.
Clinical
Experience
at,
Saint
Luc Hospital, University Catholique de Louvane (UCL),
Brussels-Belgium.
·
This
is a highly competitive hospital of 1100 beds. The
cardiothoracic and vascular department is world wide known in
which around 1800 cardiac surgery cases done yearly. Many senior
cardiac surgeons are coming for short time training in advanced
cardiac surgery at this famous centre. During the last decade
the department is known of the yearly valve surgery symposium.
·
To
be able to join the centre for one year, I was requested to be
accepted as postgraduate in University Catholique de Louvane
which I have achieved and also registered by the Belgium
Cardiothoracic Society.
·
I
was lucky to be trained by the famous Professor G. Elkhoury for
a whole year with advanced courses in coronary artery bypass
grafting, valve repair/replacement techniques, including Ross
procedure, free-style aortic valve replacement, aortic and
mitral valve repair, aortic root remodelling surgery, aortic
valve preserving surgery, aortic arch surgery, cardiac
transplant, Heart port cardiac surgery and other minimally
invasive surgery.
·
I
have performed several major and complex cardiac procedures both
under supervision of Professor Elkhoury and independently.
·
Although
the centre is an excellent atmosphere for publication, I was
much interested in the clinical part and have really no time for
research, being busy with 3-4 cases daily as a first assistant
or prime surgeon.
Clinical
Experience
at
King
Abdullah
University
Hospital-
Princess Mona Heart Centre, Irbid-Jordan.
·
This
was under my expectations at the level of work bulk. Only
400-500 cases are done yearly in this new cardiac centre, and
being shared by outside colleague surgeons from royal medical
service.
·
Considerable
percentages of my cases were high risk ones with low ejection
fraction and calcified vessels. My results were quiet
satisfactory.
Clinical
Experience
at
private
sector in Amman
·
Since
September 2007, I started my work in the private sector in
Amman
, first as part time job in Islamic Hospital, and now I have
settled in my private clinic and widened my work in the rest of
private hospitals in
Amman
.
