Work Experience
Zarka Governmental Hospital 1996-2005, Obstetrics and
Gynaecology Department of 78 beds. It is a teaching hospital
offering medical services to around one million people with
around 7,500 annual deliveries. There are 7 Consultants, 8
Specialists and 22 Residents. I covered 3-4 duties monthly, 2
operations days weekly including diagnostic and surgical
laparoscopy, one antenatal and one gynaecology clinic weekly
where I deal with family planning, U/S scanning all cases of
high risk pregnancy, infertility and gynaecological problems. In
our department we deal with normal, instrumental deliveries,
Caesarian section, treating medical disease associated with
pregnancy, performing abdominal and vaginal surgery, diagnostic
and surgical laparoscopy, as well as all kinds of surgery for
acute abdomen. Daily morning report is conducted, rounds, audit
meeting, seminars, journal club and case presentation. As well
as teaching and training of residents and participation in their
annual examinations and evaluations, I also participate in
studies and lectures, as I am a committee member of the
Jordanian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Zarka Branch.
Ma ̀an Hospital 1993-1996, Specialist in Obstetrics and
Gynaecology Department, 20 bed Department – it is the only
hospital in the province, with around 2,500 deliveries annually.
Running my own antenatal, postnatal, family planning and
gynaecology clinics, performing normal and instrumental
deliveries, caesarian sections and gynaecological operations.
Al-Basher Hospital, 1990-1993, Amman-Jordan. Al-Basher Hospital
has 800 beds and is the main and the biggest tertiary hospital
in Jordan. The Obstetrics and Gynaecology department has 130
beds with 12,000 deliveries per year. Training is recognized to
RCOG. It is the main referral hospital for the vast majority of
the Jordanian public medical services, offering medical services
to more than 1.5 million people in the Jordanian capital Amman.
I was Senior Registrar for 2 years, with 7-9 duties per month
and 2 days operative obstetrics and gynaecology. I had assisted
and performed in my own major operations: hysterectomy, both
abdominal and vaginal, caesarian section for all kinds of
indications, anterior and posterior colporaphy, diagnostic and
surgical laparoscopy. Dealing with all patients suffering from
all kinds of medical and surgical illnesses, as well as
ultrasound training and practising, both abdominal and vaginal.
Participating in the teaching programme of Junior Residents and
medical students who rotated through the Department and
participating in the teaching rounds and follow-up of the
patients. Attending and running out-patient clinics, in charge
of audit meetings. I had passed the written and oral
examinations at the end of each year.
Zarka Governmental Hospital, October 1987-February 1990,
Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department with 60 beds and 6,500
deliveries per year. I was doing one in three rota first on
call, and was supervised by Senior Residents and Consultants. I
had completed all duties as a Resident, attending E.R. admission
room and labour room. I performed all kinds of normal, high risk
and instrumental deliveries as well as operative deliveries.
Presenting morning reports, doing seminars, rounds with the
Consultants, and case presentations.
Al-Mazar Medical Centre, Kerak province, October 1985-October
1987. I provided primary and postnatal care and family planning.
Vaccination to neonates, children and mothers and primary
medical care for targeted population.
Al-Basher Hospital, October 1983-October 1984, Internship. In
this year I trained for 2 months in Obstetrics and Gynaecology,
Internal Medicine, Surgical ward, Paediatrics, E.R., each, one
month in the Family Planning clinics, 3 weeks in SCBU
(Paediatrics Department).
