Affinity Factory

The factory was founded in early 1991 as Amoura International with the objective of producing health care cosmetics, using raw materials extracted from the salts and minerals of the Dead Sea, along with select natural herbs with proven cosmetic and health care properties. The factory’s goal was to market the finished product Abroad in the most part, in order to make them available to those people who would benefit from them but are unable to actually go to the Dead Sea in person. At that time the factory had only four workers, as it needed no more at that phase to operate at its full capacity of half a ton daily.

The bath salts were soon introduced into the market, and it sold very well. As the demand for the product increased, modifications to the factory became necessary, and were undertaken. These modifications resulted in the gradual increase in the factory’s capacity from one-half ton daily to one ton of bath crystals per day. Meanwhile, the factory’s management was continually studying the feasibility of introducing new varieties of similar products. In 1995 the factory was given access to the Dead Sea mud, and was able to acquire large enough quantities to use this valuable raw material to produce the products it now offers. This development called for further modifications to the factory so that it could diversify its production from that of just bath crystals, to include four kinds of soap, black mud, shampoos, different kinds of creams, and mud masques. Accordingly, the factory’s capacity was raised to one ton per day of each of its new products.

With the increase in capacity, the size of the workforce was increased to a total of ten workers. The demand for the products in the foreign market continued to steadily increase. Thus, the volume of products exported to America, Spain, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and several Arab countries increased.

In 1997 the factory changed ownership. Ghazwa Trading Company for Export and Import, purchased the factory (retained its name – Amoura International), and commenced to participate in its management. Ghazwa further improved the factory to keep up with the latest development in the Dead Sea products industry and to provide the market with a wide range of high quality products. With the change in ownership of the factory, the products trademark was changed to AFFINITY. The Jordanian Ministry of Industry licensed this trademark to Ghazwa. In addition, the design of the containers and the packaging changed to take on its current appearance. Ghazwa increased the workforce at the factory and restructured the organization, creating positions for a Factory General Manager, Production Manager, Chemical Engineer, and Packaging Technician. This new structure increased the number of people employed at the factory to a total of twenty employees, which is the number currently maintained by the factory. A Quality Control Section was created to ensure all products met the Government’s specifications and standards as well as the quality standards set by Ghazwa for its products, including filling and packaging. The factory’s laboratory was upgraded to meet Ghazwa’s self-imposed requirements for testing, which calls for the testing of each batch produced to ascertain full compliance with the set governmental and Ghazwa specifications before the batch is further processed.
